Sandplay Therapy
- A child in Sandplay therapy creates a scene with a variety of objects in a tray of sand, which is used by the therapist as part of the healing process.
- Sandplay transports the child to a magical world where he or she has complete control, and is able to create scenes that symbolically represent the unconscious processes that are driving his or her behavior.
- Once a sand tray is finished, we interpret the symbolism with NET. Children often refer to this part of the work as “magic” or as a “game”. NET makes it possible for us to give a voice to the underlying emotions expressed in Sandplay, and then to direct those emotions in an appropriate direction.
