Work Experience:
1986 - 1989 Breath therapist and relationship counselor using principles of Sondra Rayís Loving Relationships Training.
1989 - Present Mother of two daughters, providing the opportunity for in-depth study and practice of many facets of counseling, coaching and conflict resolution.
1990 - 1999 La Leche League International, a non profit international organization which provides support for nursing mothers and their children. I began as a group leader running monthly support groups and doing phone counseling.
In 1994 I was appointed Assistant Area Professional Liaison for Colorado/Wyoming. In this capacity I wasresponsible for taking complex medical and legal phone calls and researching the solutions, functioning as a liaison between nursing mothers and their breastfeeding infants, and the healthcare community. In 1996 I was trained as a Human Relations Enrichment Trainer. As such I ran workshops designed to increase effectiveness in communication, problem solving, parenting, and relationship skills.
1988 - 2000 Nutrition and Lifestyle Counseling, Confluence Wellness Center, P.C. I counseled clients on diet and lifestyle changes that would augment their personal healing programs. In connection with this position I ran support groups for clients and counseled on an individual basis.
2000 - 2001 Internship as a school counselor, Children First Program at McKinley-Thatcher Elementary School, DPS.
As the school counselor in this Denver Public School, I worked with children between the ages of 4 and 10. Counseling was conducted individually in play therapy sessions, and small art therapy groups. In order to support the childrenís progress in the counseling program, I taught parenting techniques, conducted classroom 'bully-proofing' programs, and taught stress-management techniques to the school faculty and staff.
2000 - 2001Internship as Counselor, Maria Droste Services, Denver,CO. I counseled individuals with diverse diagnoses including Borderline Personality Disorder, Depression, Domestic Violence Offenders, and drug/alcohol addictions
